Convert string to date in excel formula

I would like to convert it to a date field value: 06/27/2011 Then I could do comparisons on the date field with other date fields, and trigger workflows. The text field could be any date of the year. Does anyone know a formula that might work here? Thanks in advance!! Using CAST() function is the same as using CONVERT() function except that it uses keyword AS in between expr and type rather than a comma. See Practice #1-10 and Practice #1-11. BINARY: BINARY str. BINARY is an operator rather than function. It casts a string following it to a binary string. You can use VBA's string functions Left, Mid and Right or the date function DatePart . The date function DateDiff can also find the time difference between two times if they also contain a date . If you want to test the examples, highlight the code with the mouse, copy (CTRL+C) and paste it (CTRL+V) into a VBA module. When converting from one date and time format to another, first pass the text to the datenum function, so that you can specify the format of the inputs. This approach ensures that the format of the input dates and times is correctly interpreted. For example, see Convert Date String from Custom Format.
